Bought Gas Monkey Energy Drink Yesterday

Grabbed one during a drive from Memphis to Chicago (super delayed flight, cut losses and drove), thoughts after the jump.

It’s not great tasting, kinda like they tried making the old Lost energy drink mixer thing but came out tasting half like a bad cough syrup. Caffeine and energy part was fine, wouldn’t recommend unless it’s the only thing on the shelf though.

Whenever I see these pricey energy drinks, I always think how one could do better with a couple of caffeine tablets from Target washed down with a can of one’s favorite soda.

Well, in College we did it properly by washing it down with Jolt cola. But tastes differ.

It’s insanely profitable. even though soda sales are declining from 15 years ago the profit margin fom energy drinks more than makes. up for it. I know someone that used to be a distributor for a knock off of Monster that sold for 1/2 of what red bull charges and he said its no wonder Red Bull can sponser so many events.

I look around, and I’m sure you’re right. I just don’t personally get the appeal. Soft drink preferences, however, are highly personal.
